The Council serves the following two functions:

  1. Recommend to Idaho’s Governor persons qualified for appointments to vacancies in the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and District Courts throughout Idaho.
  2. Investigate complaints against any judge in the State of Idaho and members of the Industrial Commission, and in appropriate cases, recommend to the Idaho Supreme Court the removal, discipline, or retirement of a justice, judge, or magistrate judge.
