Congratulations to Keely Duke, Christina Hesse, and the entire trial team on a hard fought defense verdict following a two week medical malpractice trial in Juneau, Alaska. The case involved the defense of a bariatric surgeon facing claims arising from alleged thiamine deficiency, Wernicke’s Encephalopathy, and post Roux en Y surgery stricture. After less than two hours of deliberation, the jury returned a unanimous verdict finding the surgeon was not negligent—a strong result reflecting careful preparation, effective advocacy and presentation of complex medical issues, and outstanding teamwork throughout trial.
