Congratulations, Keely Duke — Idaho Women Lawyers’ Kate Feltham Award Recipient!

Idaho Women Lawyers recently announced that Keely Duke has been selected for the Idaho Women Lawyers’ 2022 Kate Feltham award.  The award is given to a leader “who has advanced the frontier of opportunity for women in Idaho.”  Idaho Women Lawyers selected Keely based on her extraordinary efforts to promote equal rights and opportunities for women within the legal community in Idaho.

Kate Feltham was admitted to the bar in Idaho 1914 as its fifth woman.  On her death in 1936, the Weiser, Idaho newspaper paid her tribute with the following:

“Gifted with a mind of unusual power and with determined will and pioneer spirit she entered upon the study of law and was admitted to the bar at time when this was considered exclusively a field for the activity of men. She won her place in the legal profession . . . Many incidents are reported of her spirit of fairness and of kindness, particularly in dealing with girls who had run afoul of the law.”

Idaho Women Lawyers 2022 Gala will be on Thursday, April 28, 2022 in Boise.  The IWL gala draws 350 legal professionals – including law students and attorneys in private practice, public service, and the judiciary – from across Idaho and it is an opportunity for Idaho to honor innovators, rising stars, leaders, volunteers, and those who have made extraordinary efforts to promote equal rights and opportunities for women in the legal community in Idaho.

Congratulations, Keely!
